3 Idiots

3 Idiots is roughly based on novel Five Point Someone. They have brought college life alive on screen and you literally enjoy it when you try to match characters in your real life. It has been years but while watching movie, it felt as if it was yesterday when we passed out of the college. Also a story of passion, friendship, love, excellence, perfection and success. Some movies leave you speechless and it is better to watch them to feel the on-screen aura.

Also there has been quite a tiff going on between original book writer and the movie crew for the credits and money. For me, this one thing pulls down the rating for this movie.

Rating: 7/10

PS: BTW IDIOT means I Do it On My Terms.

This time Me, Sam and MKM – weekend fun at Big Cinemas. Movie was much hyped Spielberg’s Avatar.

It is story of another planet with different kind of species (you can call them aliens). To get acquainted with the atmosphere of that planet, our humans have to get into the bodies of their corresponding avatars prepared from their own DNAs. A very advanced kind of science is shown. Story begins from here and goes up to the point where humans start hurting aliens for their own benefits and someone from humans tries to stop the massacre.Reminds you of Ramayan in between the scenes after interval.

Overall, it is a good movie and we were thrilled with action and sound effects. Worth that much hype. Thoroughly enjoyable.

2012, Kurbaan and Ninja Assassin

All these movies on big screen this year.

2012 – It was Sunday and we two movie freaks were out together for first time. We have been doing lot of movie discussions when together, giving recommendations, sharing liking and disliking, criticizing and discovering new genres. Finally we got chance and time to watch a movie to give our review comments at same time. It was Sangameshwar Yadagiri whose company was making it special.

2012 is about the end of world and what can be done to save most of the creatures. The possible disaster ending the world appears quite possible with strong scientific backing. After watching movie it turns out that it is not suggesting quite visible option to save the world when it is about saving only fraction of world for those people who are supposed to superior in power or brain and nothing about rest of the world. There were many open loopholes which made us dislike it at places. Quite and average movie opposite to the hype created around it.

Rating: 6/10

Kurbaan – Am not quite believer that this duo can cause a crack at box office but the specialty behind watching this movie was the last outing of we four room-mates together – it was already known to all of us. Treasured that evening like never before.

Kurbaan is on the background of 7/11 (same as Khuda Ke Liye and New York) and it has got some very close to life facts and at the same time, some very out of question points which makes it an average movie.

Rating: 7/10

Ninja Assassin – Second movie with Sam and it was fun as well. Another action masterpiece from the creators of Matrix.

Rating: 8/10

London Dreams

London Dreams is about Friends and Dreams. When friends are part of your dreams, no one can stop you from achieving them provided you behest your trust on your friendship more than yourself. It is story of two friends who are into music since their childhood though remained separated from each other since then till they grew up to realize their dreams together. And they start it in big way. Only thing is that trust is lost somewhere in between because of mistakes from both sides. Best part is that friendship survives all the way and it wins over everything.

LONDON DREAMS

The concept is very nicely presented in form of movie. If a director can make audience like Salman despite his hopeless dialogue delivery and over-acting, he can definitely make audience like his movie – that’s what Mr. Shah has done. He has created a masterpiece which can make everyone among us relate this story to some random phase of our lives. Me too got remembered of couple of old times long back in life (more than half decade when we all were young stupid’o’s – now young and thoughtful!!).

Me and Chunks we there watching this while missing all those relocated movie partners – Kanav, Dhami, Anish, Rajat and who else.

Also watched 3 Idiots promo and it looked colorful – just like the novel.

3 idiots

PS: While leaving PVR, Chinks told the same without me telling him anything – had this movie made 5-6 years back, it had made sense. Times have changed not for us but for everyone else – be it a college going guy or a professional.

Wake Up Sid

Most recent movie watched at PVR. As usual first day last show.

It is about a boy learning to be self-dependent in after-college life. A boy who never cared about classes, exams, responsibilities is made to become disciplined and independent in hard-way. He is taught by his parents and his friends. First half of movie is all about the young college-going boy and second half is about him learning to be professional while revealing beauty of his city Bombay to the most recent and closest friend.

Movie is little slow and dangling from the subject in between and that may disturb audience up to some extent. Best role turns out to be the role played by Supriya Pathak mother of Sid/Siddy/Siddharth.

Was good experience overall to watch this movie after such long interval and in a nice company.

PS: I know Karan Johar apologized for referring Mumbai as Bombay in this movie but personally I think that it is up to the people to refer to the city by its old name or new name…after all it is a free country.

As Sunshine thinks of Ranbir Kapoor just next to Emraan Hashmi, so do I after this flick – would try to avoid this actor.
