Prologue:

I just went on the shortest vacation possible to Hyderabad. The trip was “Just Like Heaven”.  Now, I am back to Hell. “Knowing” about this fact is always good but one cannot take a corrective action about it. Coz one is always a part of it. One can make any number of theories but every theory comes down to the below theory ultimately!

The Last Theory: Theory is shit!

Proof/Disproof: (cannot be proved or disproved abstractly)

For e.g.: There are two contrasting theories

1) Theory of Randomness

2) Theory of Determinism.

1) “Theory of Randomness” says that every thing that happens in this world is an accident. You have not control, whatsoever, on the happenings. The very existence of a living being is nothing but some random chemical accidents.

2) On the other hand, the “Theory of Determinism” says the exact opposite of what the theory of randomness does. I.e., everything that happens in this world is pre-planned or decided.

Now, by definition, the theory of determinism is sure about the theory of randomness as well and vice versa. That means two contrasting theories are proving each other correct. So, they are disproving their own theories (by definition). Hence any theory is just shit.

Therefore, "The Last Theory: Theory is shit!" is BULLSHIT!!

Conclusion: SHIT JUST HAPPENS!

Personally I believe that it is right to stand for a good cause or against wrong incidents, with like-minded people when you grow up enough to be in college. It is the phase when you learn and acquire leadership qualities and also get to know the world better. I got reminded of my univ days, more than few years back when law students were famous for strikes but most of the times, their reasons for strike made sense though more than three strikes in a year by same department’s students is really something to think about. We being Comp. Sc. graduates in making, were supportive enough to be part of those strikes and individually I learned some really hard lessons of life in those days. These strikes make you tough, fearless and brings leader inside you in front of you but of course, they shouldn’t go for really long period. In fact, longest strike that I ever witnessed during my study period of four years was of six days.

Coming back to the college strike, yesterday in morning there were students standing outside the closed entrance but at safe distance from road and in evening I came to know the reason behind this strike when I read those banners pasted on main gate of college while passing in front of it. Those cloth-banners read about the paid seats being offered by management of this college to undeserving students. Also those seats are too costly to be afforded by a really needy student. Definitely it is more about making money from education on management side of ITM college. Here is what my cell was able to grab of main entrance in dark night -

First and foremost a year which will always be afresh in our memories because of bitter incidents – Delhi Bomb Blasts and Mumbai Terrorist Attack.

A year which brought our lives as employees upside down, shattered and showed the painful part of professional world. A year in which our faith in profession was destroyed. We changed jobs one after other and now we have quite sparkling job history behind us to showcase and also glittering, bright, crispy stories of our transitions.

Right now, we are in process of reconstruction.

A year in which we witnessed 57% steep rise in our cost of living – highest ever since we have started living on our own. Ah, it is truly a recession in that way. And biggest contribution in that cost-rise was from our land-lady. You might see quite frequent mentions of her on this blog from now on and will be referred to as Monger.

An Unpleasant Personality got introduced in my life which is pillage grande and has contributed considerably to lessen my interest in what I love to do. Will be referred to as UP.

Have travelled on road more than any other year in my life. This was a change which has helped me to rebuild my strength in other way!!

Missed friends more than ever. Raji is no more with us here at Gurgaon and when I was at Chandigarh, Empire mates were the ones remembered a lot.

There are more electricity/power cuts at Gurgaon/Haryana than any other year – Haryana is blackening out…

These were the enough happenings of 2008 to make us call and remember it as One Black Year!

Someone on whom you’d depend,

Someone who’ll lift you when you’re down in the dumps,

That someone is truly a friend.

That’s how I feel about you my dear friend;

Just to know that you’re there provides comfort to spare;

Personally I think that nothing has changed inside me except the feeling of keep getting better. Throughout these four years, I have been striving to be better and learn what others are still thinking of happening. To the core of my knowledge, my feeling has always been that I am quite ahead of others in industry at same level. Only thing that kept me inspired for that is not to look at my experience or number of years I have spent in IT. Keep moving forward, learning the things which are still evolving and then see them in action in coming time. The outcome has been equally fruitful when I have been considered able enough to handle the tasks and positions taken care of only by the veterans in industry.

At this point, was recalling the time when I was a young committed and struggling fresher (good ol’ 2004 @ Punjabi University), looking out for one good job. Used to go through the news-papers, job websites for openings and kept wondering why all companies want to hire experience professionals, among them also majority of the jobs were for 3 year experienced. Me and my friend Dot always speculated as if a professional turns into God for IT companies after possessing experience of three years in this industry. This thing disturbed me that time and equally itches me at the present. Why does experience matters so much in private sector – at some point, this notion needs to be changed. In fact, that speculation about 3-year experienced professional stands even today though with a bit less certainty, I must say. It is true that with time a professional gets mature with the rituals of trade and the notions but I have noticed in case of myself and couple of others who possessed more maturity & knowledge after completion of first year than those goodish three year specialists – thanks to companies like Infosys which believe in similar thinking as of mine and train their employees in such professional environment. My whole thank goes to Infosys and my mentors@Infy for the career path I have been following. There needs to be more companies like Infosys which recognize creativity of young professionals, train/nurture them and nourish them to make rest of the world wonder on the capabilities of these grown-up lads!

So here goes three cheers to my completion of four years, Infosys and the unknown future ahead.

For those who can make it out, digest as well as understand…just a nod will work ( ), I saw my firm closing down, got unavoidable employment opportunity to become a US employee, visa stamped and then… I refused.

Remained on hunt for a suitable job (in other words jobless) for couple of weeks after resign, and then landed with best opportunity anyone could have after coming out of CashEdge.

CashEdge has closed it operations at Gurgaon. I managed to get couple of good offers and finally zeroed down at Chandigarh, also known as City Beautiful and presently residing at Mohali (neighboring city).

All these things happened in span of 4 months after my return from US in March. Managed to keep up with blogging for almost two months somehow but then, everything broke down with me for next two months.

So this is the summary of those two quiet months of my professional life as I am too … to describe it completely but pretty sure that it can explain my 60 day silence which looks quite small in front of turns I went through.

And there was this friend who was going through similar phases of life almost at the time and now resuming with life as I am. All the best to you too dear.

Last year, I had survived by keeping my computer shut and being with my family for a day and this year, again, I will try to repeat by being with my room-mates…hopefully will plan to go for a movie.

By now, I have been into two different Tech domains and learnt 3 different technologies while retaining same functional domain. If I was kinda expert (although I don’t exactly mean that) in one, I got to learn two completely new leading industry platforms which has been really wonderful experience especially when I am a big lover of Change than mere Designations!

When I am calling a learning curve, I literally mean that its been a curve outta here. An adventurous and exciting curve! Loving my organization…

Also completed my two years at Gurgaon on January 15, 2008 (Although I am not there physically but still I am paying the rent ). Same day, my bike turned 2 years too. These two years never appeared to be that long while being in company of Chunky, Anuj and Puneet as my room-mates.

Its been really wonderful time spent in these 2 years and as I wished last year, I am looking forward toward longer relationships.

Whole week I was busy in settling down at office and at the apartments. Things were so messed up at both places. For first time, I realized that even a girl can mess up an apartment too much to clean up properly. Eh.

This was the first weekend and went out to Mccarthy Ranch. There first went to Best Buy and looked at the electronics goods primarily. But I found that all those which I wanted were more cheaper when purchased online than from store provided you know where to look out over Internet. Then it was Wallmart to get other stuff for living. Interestingly I happened to meet and talk with 2 Indian guys (Harsh and Sri) at Best Buy and one at Wallmart (Srinivas) which was surprising for me provided my nature of… At the end of day, we had something going inside our stomachs (I am not able to recall the name of outlet) but I must say, it is very hard for a veggie to survive on fast-food here specially when you get to eat ultra-cold burgers and that too, not much tasty . India is much better in that way. Also, here McDonald’s doesn’t serve any vegetable items…huh. Also bus service is till 0830 only on weekend. So you better get into last bus otherwise you will be left thinking of almost no other alternative.

Weather here is quite cold and you can’t be out from home without any jacket even when it is a sunny day. And purchase of a jacket was the costliest part of my shopping . I chose Raiders to save myself from deadly cold outside. It was quite expensive shopping for me out of we 3 at the end of day but I had something to feel good for sleeping soundly. Nits is still busy with issues …poor guy. I don’t know when will he get to sleep.

On lighter note, I happened to see not even a single unmarried Indian girl over whole trip!!!

I am downloading selected movies to watch out later and to feel homely . Also listening to music all the time while being at home. My messenger contacts can see my status changing every 5 minutes. Also family and friends out there in India are helping a lot to make me not feel much nostalgic.

Yuvraj just hit like a star in third test of India against Pak. It was he who acclerated Indian innings and made it to achieve record 350+ score on very first day of test. India made 626 and has Pakistan has made 86/1 in first innings till the end of second day. You can watch out live video streaming of match at Live TVs Online. Thanks Nits for providing the link.

There were around 31 hacks which developers came up with and the Brainiest Hack was the one allowing collaborative annotation of large sets of images without having downloading whole set of photos by any user.

One of my favourite parts was seeing people collaborating and seeking skills in other hackers in order to build a strong team. It was much less of a competition than working together to show what’s possible in 24 hours if you let developers loose without any product or management overhead and boundaries.

Also there was a hack Desktop Wallpaper Love which creates wallpaper from images pulled from Flickr (ok its fine till here) and filtered through Yahoo! Buzz feeds (this is interesting).

Here are the motivating directives -

It was exciting to read these points as I have seen some of them working even in the least expected cases.

The ability to do well on things you don’t like is essential for success

How do you feel when India wins a match which seems just impossible? 

How does it feel to have gala time with your mates at the height of 5000 feet above sea level, walking over the clouds?

How do you perceive the joy of celebrating the birthday of your dear friend at midnight, the day India has won an exciting cricket match and also, when a new room-mate has joined you?

Such feelings can’t be described but felt.

Praying for India to win last night when team needed 10 runs out of 6 balls and then seeing it winning the match was just astonishing. It was great to see Sachin Tendulkar back in form – the way he played in his early twenties. We had never lost the hopes till Uthappa was on the crease. He played just amazingly to make India win out of blues.

And then it was the first day of Raveesh as our new room-mate. He is also mah colleague. Good to have first day on superb note

Yes he also plays TT and is left-handed .

Before that, there was a trip to Parwanoo on this weekend…enjoying the trolley and then, Timber Trail. The location is just right place to spend the best times of your life.

Still we would like to say that never ever hide anything from a girl because every girl on this earth is more innocent than any guy and she deserves the BEST. Dare to think beyond dance and sex, if you really love any girl and she will always be respecting you.
