Wanted to write about terrorist attack on Mumbai since last post but couldn’t find rightful words and data to put down. It is one of the most shameful incidents in recent times, happened in India which has shaken whole country. For first time in decade, just few terrorists made whole city go undercover for couple of days. They killed more than hundred Indians brutally and took three of the big city buildings under their custody while kidnapping hundreds of people inside those constructions/hotels. By the time rescue operation completed, most of those who got abducted, were dead.
It has been seen as an attempt by neighbor country to spoil image of India in front of world, prove India as one of the dangerous countries to be visited and in lieu of upcoming Commonwealth games, to divert the happening. It was really very low time for whole country, specially for the Mumbai residents. Must appreciate and commiserate their patience through this tough time and their attempt to rise once again. My whole consolation to those who got affected by this attack.
I wouldn’t blame Indian Intelligence which had already informed and spread the news about this attack few days in advance or the national security forces which played their part as good as they have been playing in past. Neither would I feel angry for task forces nor for the community who is integrated part of this country and is targeted for no reasons. But yes I want to condemn those politicians who played blame game, want to shout at those administrations who didn’t take appropriate preventive steps even after getting information beforehand and want to decry the governmental bodies who have never been able to take control of terrorism in so many years.
I was told about well written article by Mr. Milind Deora published in leading national daily Hindustan Times. For those who don’t know Milind, he is one bright GenNext Congress politician, Member of Parliament from South Mumbai and a volunteer member of many social campaigns and initiatives. Here are the excerpts –
Talk is cheap, lives are not
The last few days have been devastating for every Mumbaikar. All our hearts go out to those who have lost their dear ones. I’ve been awake since 8 a.m. on Wednesday, barring a few hours of interrupted sleep on Thursday and Friday nights, and have witnessed the most horrific yet moving events of my life.
Immediately after the news broke, my partymen and I prevented a mob outside Nariman House from becoming an easy target for a grenade attack, had a narrow escape when a seized police Toyota Qualis vehicle hurled grenades at the car we were in, assisted shattered relatives identify bodies of their family members, and helped government hospitals mobilise resources from other hospitals that weren’t as inundated with dead bodies.
..........
This is a preview of
India Burning

Random musings of an Indian!
I am an Indian citizen. One among 1 billion of us. When somebody bombs us we die. Just like Americans did when the Al Qaeeda drove their planes into the WTC. Just like Londoners did when terrorists attacked the city last July.
But while Americans have the right to retaliate and bomb Afghanistan off the face of the map because the terrorists HQ was based there, we Indians have to negotiate, talk, send peace buses, and “build confidence” with the government across our border – the Pakistanis who are supporting the terrorists with money and explosives.
The world applauds how resilient we are in the face of our tragedy, how quickly we go back to “normalcy”. Ironically we ourselves applaud our resilience. The fact is that the world expects us to be less than human – hey you fella, so what if you lost your colleague, friend, partner, husband, wife or brother, get on with it old chap, that’s it my boy! No time to mourn. No time to fume and rail at the injustice being meted out, no time to even call the terrorists the filthiest of names, no time to give incompetent politicians and policemen, intelligence agencies and the powers-be a piece of our mind.
(Shivraj Patil, our honorable defence minister said something to the effect that we knew that an attack was planned but we didn’t know the time and place. Really! What did he expect – a phone call from the terrorists giving him the details of the local trains, timings and compartments in which the explosives would be kept?)

We also have to prove to the world that we are RESILIENT. Be happy with Musharraf’s “quick condemnation” and go back to the business of dealing with old betrayers. After all we cannot “change the region’s positive course”, as LA Times’ editorial put it. So what if a few hundred Indians die – Indians who are not into big time negotiations. Indians who just want to earn their living and return home to their families after a hard day’s work. But well no, Musharraf and his terrorist friends will deny them the luxury of going back to his family because en route the train blows up! And our incompetent politicians and policemen will let terrorists do their horrific jobs and launch a hunt post-facto…

So Bombayites died for a cause: for the peace of the region! As did Delhi-ites last year before Diwali. As did people in Bangalore when Pakistan-supported terrorists hit the city. As did Indian tourists who had gone to Srinagar for a holiday….And as will many many more will die…Wow, that’s some consolation!
If you feel as angry about what’s happening to us, please feel free to pass this on. If your reaction is: “hey nothing is going to change – this is India,” feel free to pass on!
My silent homage to the Victims.

These days we are realizing how much we got dependent on maids for our day – to – day works…courtesy our maid.
I came here in Jan and since then she is working in our house. She maintains kitchen, cleans home and clothes. So all these comes under her duties. The NEWS is that she is on long leave for unknown number of days and so, we are starving at home. We have unwashed clothes, uncleaned home and of course, on food front, we are missing her to the MAX. So this is the life of bachelor guys.
Anyway, we have decided not to accept defeat. We are saving clothes by wearing them for as long as we can…provided they don’t start stinking
. Close home when outside so that home doesn’t get much dirty. And in kitchen, finally, we are learning cooking and it is gonna cause a threat to her job if she doesn’t come for another week. Slowly but steadily, we are learning how to live without maid as she has given such chances in past also but that time we used to have assurance that she will come someday! This time, we are determined not to wait anymore
.
Paving the way for self-dependence…the story continues. Ya, will definitely write about her surprise return…next part – The Maid returns. Ha. Posting under one more category – Brutality:oops: All The Best to us.
