Straight from Britannica

(Blogging, Tech, Web 2.0)

As many of you will be aware that Britannica is providing free annual subscription to bloggers all around the world, I happened to register and got free account on behalf of my present blog otherwise it costs around $70 to access web-based info over Britannica.

britannica

Here comes today’s history straight from Britannica. Today is birthday of legendry writer William Shakespeare (wikipedia). Of course Britannica is just another warehouse of information like Wikipedia but this information is more reliable as it is verified by thousands of recognized experts around the world but then the base model is taken up directly from Wikipedia of providing reliable information free of cost. Ultimately, it can happen that whole web-based Britannica Encyclopedia will be made available for free to everyone.

Still I will love to stick with Wikipedia for now as I have been more familiar as well as comfortable in searching over there and then it is just one year of free subscription for Britannica…not sure if it going to last forever. Will be linking to Britannica now and then where I found better description of subject. Also I like the interface provided by Britannica which is AJAX based (oh btw I couldn’t find AJAX topic related to Information Technology over Britannica)!

Anyway if you are a blogger, you can claim your free membership for Britannica here.

Blogging from Airport

(Blogging, Places)

Like any other blogger, I had also kind of dream of blogging and finally I am doing that. Right now posting from Hong Kong airport sitting with Amit and Naini. Having nice feeling while eating french fries and sipping cold drink & waiting for Flight which has to take off in 2 hours.

So one more expected target achieved!

blogger’s choice award

(Blogging, Just like that!)

I just got a new visitor to my profile on almost resting in dust profile over blogcode, joining my neighbourhood, adding me as a friend and then sending me a message over the shoutbox. It went like -

Hi, I wanted to vote for your blog in the Bloggers Choice Awards but couldnt find it, is it nominated? BloggersChoiceAwards.com/nominate. Send me a link so I can vote for it. While you are there check out my blog and vote for it if you like it. http://www.bloggerschoiceawards.com/blogs/show/35156

I don’t know from where this person would have landed over my old old blogcode profile and left this message as it has been ages since I visited my space over there or got message from someone. That’s why I think it might be a spam trick but I would appreciate the way it is designed and executed.

Is Sex the latest blogging subject

Monday, January 21, 2008 | E-Mail This Post/Page | |
(Blogging)

Lately I have started coming across posts from most popular technology blogs which have started posting sexually abusive content on their websites with familiar warnings like you accept this and that.

Today, Download Squad posted one such crap with warning and sometime back Techcrunch did the same. Scoble is also known for testing this experiment occasionally.

Is it the new reformer subject in Blogging arena which now these leading blogs are taking support of for attracting more readers ignoring the old subscriber base? I have been feeling offended after coming across such posts in my feed reader from such prominent blogs. And there would be other readers too complaining about the same when these blogs overlook the ones who aren’t much interested in such kind of stuff. Moreover, they aren’t going to leave web a safe place to browse for kids, the ones looking out for just tech updates.
