I was a bit surprised after reading the headline in Times Of India today – Dinosaur that resembled a biplane? and hence wanted to mention the article. Of course, it was taken from other newspaper – Did the dinosaurs invent biplane technology?

Researchers have found that a dinosaur, Microraptor gui, was able to glide through air like a biplane. The microraptor fossil was found in China.

Researchers originally suggested that Microraptor spread both arms and legs to the sides of its body to form two pairs of gliding wings. But palaeontologist Sankar Chatterjee of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, US, says that would have been aerodynamically inefficient and that Microraptor’s legs could not be splayed sideways.
